Construction in Details
Understanding the evolving needs of modern commercial environments, our design approach for the BYD Service Center was guided by a human-centered philosophy—prioritizing spatial flow, user comfort, and long-term functionality. Situated at 186 Vauxhall Street in the heart of Colombo, the project was developed in collaboration with John Keells Holdings, aiming to reflect the brand’s forward-thinking vision while enhancing the day-to-day experience of staff and customers alike.
With an emphasis on clean lines, natural finishes, and ergonomic planning, the design integrates contemporary materials and durable surfaces fit for high-traffic service zones. We drew inspiration from urban minimalism and the principles of biophilic design to subtly promote well-being in a highly technical setting.
- Open Service Bays: Designed for ease of movement, transparency, and efficiency—allowing technicians to work with minimal obstruction while maintaining visual connection with supervisory spaces.
- Ventilation & Lighting: Strategic openings and skylights were introduced to reduce dependency on artificial systems and create a healthier work environment.
- Robust Material Palette: A mix of polished concrete, tempered glass, and industrial-grade steel provides both durability and aesthetic consistency with BYD’s brand identity.
- Client Lounge Experience: Soft textures, warm lighting, and clean-lined furniture were used to create a comfortable waiting area that aligns with the expectations of a high-end automotive brand.
- Smart Integration: Provisions for EV charging systems and future-ready service technology were incorporated seamlessly into the infrastructure layout.
